· 1731 CASES DISPOSED OFF DURING NATIONAL LOK ADALAT IN JALANDHAR

As many as 1731 cases were disposed off on the spot during the National Lok Adalat organized here today at the District Judicial Complex.
Divulging the details Chairman of District Legal Services Authority and District and Session Judge Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Garg said that during this National Lok Adalat 17 bench for pending and pre-litigative cases were constituted in Jalandhar besides one each in Phillaur and Nakodar. He said that during the National Lok Adalat 14098 cases were listed for hearing before these 19 benches out of which 1731 were solved on the spot. Mr. Garg said that these cases were mostly regarding marital disputes, Banks and other institutions.
The District and Session Judge said that 1731 cases were resolved on the spot and compensation worth Rs 14.19 crore was settled during these Lok Adalats. He said that people could approach him or Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority or the concerned courts for the settlement of cases through the Lok Adalats. Mr. Garg said that the decision of Lok Adalat was the final, which could not be challenged further. The District and Session Judge said that Lok Adalats were instrumental in saving time and money of the people besides promoting harmony amongst the people.
On the occasion Civil Judge (Senior Division) cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority Jalandhar Mr. Gurmeet Tiwana said that the people could also get their cases resolved through the Mediation Centre in the District Judicial Complex. He further said that people also could approach the front office of the authority in Court Complex for free legal aid.
