• DIRECTS COMPLETION OF WORK WITHIN STIPULATED TIME PERIOD

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today monitored the progress of the ongoing construction work on National Highway Number 1 between Rama Mandi to PAP chowk.
In a meeting with representatives of Soma Company, undertaking the work, and officers of the district administration, the Deputy Commissioner categorically said that the work on this ambitious project must be completed within the stipulated time period. He said that this stretch was a major bottle neck for the commuters who were facing a lot of trouble due to frequent traffic jams on it. Mr. Sharma said that the district administration was fully committed for completing this project at the earliest.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the work on this project was by and large satisfactory but then also it needs to be expedited for completing the project well in time. He directed the Soma Company to pump in more resources and machinery to complete the work on construction of service lane before Diwali. Mr. Sharma also asked the PSPCL authorities to speed up work of shifting high tension wires so as to facilitate the ongoing construction work.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner was informed that the work on shifting of these poles was going on in full swing and would be completed soon. It was also apprised in the meeting that work on shifting of Tanks from the highway would also be started soon.
Prominent amongst others present on the meeting included Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Bhupinder Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Rajeev Verma and Project Manager of Soma Company Mr. KV Rao.
