ADC HOLDS MEETING TO REVIEW THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE MEGA EVENT
India News Centre,Jalandhar-Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh today said that the district administration would observe April 14 as Special Nutrition Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Presiding over the first quarterly meeting of committee constituted under the National Nutrition Mission (NNM), the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that on the Special Nutrition Day Health department would organize special camps across the district to make the people aware of the Health and nutrition of the children. Likewise, he said that the education department would also start a sensitization drive in Anganwaris to ensure proper nutrition for the children. Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh further said that the Rural Development and Panchayats department would also organize special village level camps for awakening the people about health and nutrition.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner asked all the departments to ensure that this campaign becomes a mass movement, so that maximum numbers of people were benefitted from it. He asked all the departments to zealously participate in this campaign for making it a huge success. Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh said that the NNM aims at achieving improvement in nutritional status status of children from 0-6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers in a time bound manner during the next three years.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the mission aims to reduce mal-nourishment from the country in a phased manner. Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh this objective would be attained through the life cycle concept by adopting a synergized and result oriented approach. He said that the mission would ensure mechanisms for timely service delivery and a robust monitoring as well as intervention infrastructure.
