CVIGIL APP TO HELP IN CONDUCTING A FREE, FAIR AND TRANSPARENT LOK SABHA POLLS- AC

India News Centre,Jalandhar- Assistant Commissioner Mr. Himanshu Jain today said that Cvigil app would prove to be a landmark in conducting the ensuing general elections in a free, fair and transparent manner.
Presiding over a training program for the officers to apprise them about the newly launched app by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Assistant Commissioner said that the app was the amongst the other novel ways to ensure the electoral participation of the techno savvy youth besides simplifying the poll related works and bringing its functioning in tune with the changing times. He said that Cvigil provides time-stamped, evidence based proof of the Model Code of Conduct / Expenditure Violation, having live photo/video with auto location data. Mr. Jain said that any citizen could lodge a complaint through App which would be further investigated by Flying Squads and subsequently action would be taken by the Returning Officer.
The Assistant Commissioner said that as soon as the complaint was lodged action has to be initiated on it and it has to be resolved within 100 minutes. He said that if the complainant doesn’t want to get identified then his credentials have to be kept secret. Mr. Jain said that this was a historic initiative of the Election Commission of India which was aimed at strengthening democracy at grass root level.
The Assistant Commissioner apprised the participants about modalities involved in operating Cvigil (Web/ Android Base application). Mr. Jain said that every officer has to perform their duty zealously to ensure that this app proves to be a boon for the voters. He asked the officers to make sure that the complaints received on the app were disposed at the earliest to make it a huge success.
On the occasion Assistant Commissioner (General) Ms. Shayari Malhotra and others were also present.
