SDM URGES YOUTHS TO ENRICH LS POLLS WITH ACTIVE PARTICIPATION
• SAYS YOUNG MINDS CAN PLAY A MAJOR ROLE IN STRENGTHENING DEMOCRACY
India News Centre,Jalandhar- Aiming to ensure historical participation of first-time voters in the during the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, Sub-Divisional Magistrate-II Mr Paramvir Singh today urged them to actively participate in the elections and vote in record manners for the stronger democracy.
Addressing the students in BSF Senior Secondary School during an awareness program under Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), Mr Paramvir Singh said that the first-time voters must exercise their franchise for better future and must encourage others to vote in the polls.
SDM told that youths are asset of country and their energy and passion will take the country to greater heights. He said that young minds must take their opportunity to
to strengthening democracy at the grass root level.
Mr. Paramvir also added that as India was a youthful nation with a sizeable chunk of its population above the age of 18 years it was need of the hour to ensure that every youth registers himself as voter and cast it in the elections.
He also told that that those youngsters who are eligible but have not enrolled them as voters can apply for the vote till April 19th before the polls. He said that to facilitate the youth the Election Commission of India has launched National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App). He said that the youth have to click the link www.nvsp.in for getting them registered as new voters. Likewise, SDM also said that the youth could also download Voter Helpline App from Google Play store in their android phone for enrolling them as voters.
Meanwhile, he also administrated the oath to the students for participating in electoral process.On the occasion, Assistant SVEEP Coordinator Mr. Surjit Lal and others were available.
