FIVE MEMBER COMMITTEE CONSTITUTED BY CM ANNOUNCES LEGAL AND FINANCIAL HELP TO SC COMMUNITY FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF SRI GURU RAVIDASS TEMPLE AT NEW DELHI
ANNOUNCE FULSOME SUPPORT TO COMMUNITY DURING THE LEGAL BATTLE
India News Centre,Jalandhar- Cabinet Ministers Mr Charanjit Singh Channi and Mrs Aruna Chaudhary today announced that the state government would extend fulsome legal and financial support to the SC community for filing review petition against the order of Apex court to demolish Sri Guru Ravidass temple at New Delhi.
The Ministers along with Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh and MLAs Mr Raj Kumar Chabbewal and Mr Sushil Kumar Rinku who were part of five member committee constituted by Punjab Chief Minister to meet the religious and political representatives of the Community and formulate a comprehensive strategy to resolve the issue held a meeting with representatives of the SC community here at District Administrative Complex. The Ministers, while expressing pain and anguish over the demolition of temple at New Delhi, said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for safeguarding the interests of the weaker and underprivileged sections of society. Both the Ministers said that if the community agrees, the state government was ready to bear the entire expenses for the legal battle to rebuild the temple.
The Ministers also said that the state government was also ready to contribute or fully bear the expenditure for reconstruction of the temple at the same place. They said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder had also personally spoken to Union Urban Development Minister Mr Hardeep Singh Puri to seek re-allotment of the same site, which reportedly belongs to the Delhi Development Authority, to enable the community to reconstruct the temple and along with the Sarovar. They said that the Chief Minister has also extended all legal and financial assistance to the community to take the matter forward and rebuild the demolished structures at the same place.
Condemning the incident in severe terms, the Ministers said that the Punjab government would support the struggle of the SC community to get the land for the temple back and get it reconstructed at the earliest. They also asked the representatives to ensure that the struggle was peaceful and non-violent. Both the Ministers also urged the representatives to take support of all the sections of society during this struggle.
Meanwhile, during the meeting a unanimous resolution was passed to condemn this inhuman and heinous incident. The resolution also pledged to wage a peaceful battle for regaining the land for temple thereby ensuring its reconstruction.
On the occasion Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal urged the representatives to exercise restraint and peace during the protest.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included MLAs Mr Pargat Singh, Mr Rajinder Beri, Chaudhary Surinder Singh and Mr Avtar Singh Bawa Henry, Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr Kulwant Singh and Mr Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Gurmit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms D Sudharvizhi, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr Paramveer Singh and Mr Sanjeev Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Ms Shayari Malhotra, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Sarabjit Singh Rai and Mr Surinder Pal, Revenue Officer Mr Manohar Lal and others.
