Innocent Hearts celebrated Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti and agricultural festival Baisakhi
INDIA NEWS CENTRE,JALANDHAR ः Baisakhi festival was celebrated with great pomp in all five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt.-Jandiala Road, Nurpur Road and Kapurthala Road). In the special assembly everyone was made aware of the important role of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in the making of the Constitution and his three fundamental principles of liberty, equality and fraternity. The historical importance of the Baisakhi festival was told to the children while highlighting Punjabi culture. Innocent Hearts Schools and Innokids were decorated with phulkari, cut-outs of farmers, drums and balloons. The program started with Shabad-gayan. Little children dressed in traditional folk costumes performed Bhangra to the beats of drums. The children of Grades 1 presented Punjabi culture by wearing Punjabi costumes on the theme 'Punjab Di Shaan- Punjabi'. The children of grades II presented Gidda on the theme of 'Dhol Dhamaka', singing Boliyaan in Punjabi dialect. The Giddha and Bhangra presented by the students made the whole environment entertaining and pleasant. The students of grades III and IV participated in 'Bachpan Diya Yaadan' - Pin Wheel Decoration Activity.
Mrs. Sharmila Nakra (Deputy Director Cultural Affairs) introduced the students to the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and explained the significance of the agricultural festival Baisakhi. She threw light on the life of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. She inspired the students to follow the path shown by him.
Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated the spring harvest festival Baisakhi Alumni member Mr. Kulwinder Kumar elucidated the religious importance of Baisakhi festival by commemorating that on this day Khalsa Panth was formed under the leadership of Guru Gobind Singhji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs in the year 1699. Student-teacher Parampreet Kaur explained the importance of Baisakhi festival for the Indian farmers. Dressed up in their cultural attire the student-teachers, Sonia and Sarika performed Gidda. Bolis and Tappes were chanted by the student-teachers Komal and Poonam in Punjabi language which added to the merriment and amusement.
