    Providing a much needed succor to the people with disabilities, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today directed the district administration to set up special facilitation counter to help these people during the two days special assessment camp.
Deputy Commissioner, who spent around an hour during the camp, had detailed interaction with the people visiting the camp for seeking relief. After he was apprised about some problems faced by the people visiting the assessment camps especially in context of disability and income certificates, the Deputy Commissioner immediately asked the Civil Surgeon to depute special team of Doctors to issue temporary disability certificates on the spot. Likewise, he also instructed Secretary Red Cross to ensure that no eligible beneficiary was left unattended by streamlining the entire procedure.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was committed to facilitate the persons with disability by providing them relief through these camps. Mr. Sharma said that basic motive behind organizing these camps was to ensure that needy people could avail the benefits of these camps. He said that these camps were being organized under the Assistance to Disabled persons for purchasing / fitting of aids / appliances (ADIP) scheme of the Government of India (GoI) and a team of experts was assessing the extent of disability of the people to prepare a report for distributing artificial limbs, hearing aids, wheel chair, Braile Cane to them free of cost.
Mr. Sharma said that after compiling the data a free distribution camp would also be organized to disburse these free aides to the people suffering from any sort of physical disability.  Exhorting the people to take full benefit of this camp, the Deputy Commissioner said that any person from across the state could come to this camp, which would continue on September 5 also, for relief. Meanwhile, Mr. Sharma also asked the assessment team to ensure that the benefit of this ambitious scheme was percolated to the every genuine beneficiary.
On the occasion Secretary Red Cross Mr. Paramjit Singh informed the Deputy Commissioner that in the camp 70 disable persons have been registered today.
