Forest Minister, Punjab Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharmsot today exhorted the people to follow the path and ideals shown by Bhagwan Valmiki Ji, who had preached the message of equality and universal brotherhood, to carve out an egalitarian society.
Addressing a mammoth gathering during the Shobha Yatra organized here to mark the parkash utsav of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji here today, the Minister, accompanied by Joint Editor of Hind Samachar Group of Newspapers Mr. Avinash Chopra, said that Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Maharaj was first poet or the Adi Kavi of the world who by his immortal and masterpiece composition the “Ramayana” propagated the message of victory of good over evil. He also said that great epic has from centuries taught the way of life to the people and has been a lighthouse of the ethical and moral living for the people which were far more relevant in the present materialistic society.  Mr. Dharmsot said that teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Maharaj lays stress on the equality in the society along with the ethics of what an ideal man, ideal ruler and ideal people should follow for the formation of an ideal state or society.
Lauding the efforts made by City Valmiki Sabha to organize the Shobha Yatra, the Minister said that such endeavors not only help in disseminating the philosophy of Bhagwan Valmiki Maharaj Ji for carving out a harmonious society but also act as a lighthouse to guide the destiny of our youth through the great ethical and moral values preached by him. Mr. Dharmsot said that the teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki ji were the most relevant in today’s era to cement the bonds of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood.
          Speaking on the occasion Lok Sabha Member Chaudhary Santokh Singh, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Gurpreet Singh Sonu Dhesi, MLA Mr. Sushil Kumar Rinku and former Punjab Minister Mr. Avtar Henry also greeted the people on the parkash utsav of Bhagwan Valmiki ji. They also congratulated the organizers for holding this mega event every year to perpetuate the glorious legacy of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji.
          On the occasion Commissioner of Police Mr. Praveen Kumar Sinha, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Rajinder Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh were also present.
Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included President of District Congress Committee Mr. Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia, President of City Valmiki Sabha Mr. Amrit Khosla, Mr. Raj Kumar Raju, Mr. Rajesh Bhatti, Mr. Ashwani Sharma, Mr. Satnam Singh Bitta and others.
